Fire Risk Assessment

In order to demonstrate our competence, all our consultants are listed on the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) Register of Fire Risk Assessors and Auditors. For further information regarding this register, please see http://www.ife.org.uk/frr.

Your fire risk assessment will be completed on a BSI Publication PAS 79 fire risk assessment pro forma, which is endorsed, by the Fire Protection Association, trade associations and professional bodies such as Institution of Fire Engineers, the Institute of Fire Prevention Officers and the Chief Fire Officers' Association (CFOA).

The assessment will be fully descriptive and where necessary include advice on setting out a plan of works over an agreed period. Firesure UK Ltd will provide technical support and guidance on all matters raised within the document.

The assessment will review the following:

Fire hazards
Fire prevention
Storage and handling of flammable liquids and gases
Housekeeping
Means of escape in case of fire
Compartmentation
Flammability of linings
Emergency escape lighting
Fire safety signs and notices
Fire detection and fire alarm systems
Fire extinguishing systems and appliances
Facilities for use by the fire and rescue service
Arrangements for the management of fire safety
Fire policy and procedures
Training and drills
Testing and maintenance
Fire management/maintenance records

It will include:

A CERTIFICATE to confirm that a fire risk assessment has been undertaken by a competent person*
12 month telephone support on all fire safety matters relating to the premise

Fire Risk Audit

A fire risk assessment should be reviewed if it is no longer valid or there are any significant changes made. In addition, it should be periodically audited.

Firesure UK Ltd can undertake a review or audit of your existing risk assessment and our audit will follow the principles of BSI publication PAS 79: 2007.

Training

Under the Fire Safety Order 2005 and health and safety legislation employees should be provided with adequate training to safeguard both themselves and any other relevant persons on the premises. This should include suitable and sufficient training on the appropriate fire precautions and actions to take in the event of a fire. As no two premises are alike our speciality is to tailor courses to the client’s needs.

The level and frequency of staff fire training is determined by the type and use of premises and the risk presented. Our competent trainers will deliver the input in a manner appropriate to the risk and complete all appropriate records and entries in the fire safety log book where necessary.

We provide a number of standard packages and bespoke training courses arranged to suit the client’s requirements. Practical and realistic training is undertaken using 'clean burn ' real fires for extinguisher training and demonstrations in smoke using our safe simulators. The duration of these courses is dependant upon your needs and requirements and range from 60 minutes to half day.

Firesure UK Ltd will assess your individual needs and advise on a programme of relevant training suitable for you and your employees to ensure that there is an awareness and understanding of all fire safety matters relevant to the premises.

Local and Regulatory Authority Plan & Design Consultation

Our knowledge and experience of fire safety legislation and alternative solutions allows us to negotiate with the relevant authorities, assisting clients to overcome unusual or difficult proposals without compromising safety.

Discussing and agreeing fire safety systems at the planning stage will ensure a risk proportionate cost-effective solution without the need to make further expensive or disruptive alterations either after Building Regulations consultation or once the building is occupied.

Fire Investigation

Having many years experience as operational fire officers we are able to offer our services for fire investigation following any type of incident at your premises. We are able to liaise with the fire authority, Insurers or any other third party on your behalf and will produce a comprehensive fire investigation report detailing any significant findings and recommendations.

Third Party Accreditation

To assure you of the *competence of our staff, it is our policy that consultants undertaking risk assessments are listed on the The Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) Register of Fire Risk Assessors and Auditors http://www.ife.org.uk/frr. Persons listed on the Register must demonstrate their *competence to the IFE and this is based on objective criteria (including examination of samples of fire risk assessments).
