Fire Risk Assessment
Under the Fire Safety Order 2005 the 'responsible
person' is required to carry out a suitable and sufficient risk assessment
for the safety of ALL
persons legally on the premises. View
legislation.
A fire risk assessment
is a systematic approach looking at potential sources of risk, the
danger that fire poses to occupants and how the
risk and spread
of fire can be minimised.
The assessment should look at all areas necessary to comply with the
requirements of the above legislation. Existing fire safety standards
will form the cornerstone of the assessment, however where improvements
are identified these would need to be included as part of a plan to be
implemented over a period of time determined by the responsible person.
A Firesure UK Ltd risk assessment will be fully descriptive and include advice and guidance on a working plan over an agreed period. The assessment/audit will review the following :
- Fire hazards.
- Fire prevention.
- Storage and handling of flammable liquids and gases.
- Housekeeping.
- Means of escape in case of fire.
- Compartmentation.
- Flammability of linings.
- Emergency escape lighting.
- Fire safety signs and notices.
- Fire detection and fire alarm systems.
- Fire extinguishing systems and appliances.
- Facilities for use by the fire and rescue service.
- Arrangements for management of fire safety.
- Fire policy and procedures.
- Training and drills.
- Testing and maintenance.
- Records.
A CERTIFICATE will be issued to confirm that:
. a fire risk assessment has been undertaken and
. a *competent person carried out the assessment
Further
ongoing technical advice is available to all clients.
Fire Risk Audit
A fire risk assessment should be reviewed if it is no longer valid or there
are any significant changes made. In addition it should
be periodically audited. We can undertake a review or audit of your existing
risk assessment.
We will give a suggested date for review in our reports.
For further guidance and advice on risk assessment or audit please contact
us.
Training
Under the Fire Safety Order 2005 and Health and Safety legislation employees
should be provided with adequate training to safeguard both themselves
and any other relevant persons on the premises. This should include suitable
and sufficient training on the appropriate fire precautions and actions
to take in the event of a fire. As no two premises are alike our speciality
is to tailor courses to the client’s needs.
The level and frequency of staff fire training is determined by the
type and use of premises and the risk presented. Our competent trainers
will deliver the input in a manner appropriate to the risk and complete
all appropriate records and entries in the fire safety log book where
necessary.
We provide a number of standard packages and bespoke training courses
arranged to suit the client’s requirements. Practical and realistic
training is undertaken using 'clean burn ' real fires for extinguisher
training and demonstrations in smoke using our safe simulators. The
duration of these courses is dependant upon your needs and requirements
and range from 60 minutes to half day.
Firesure UK Ltd will assess your individual needs and advise on a programme
of relevant training suitable for you and your employees to ensure that
there is an awareness and understanding of all fire safety matters relevant to the premises..
